Rezension aus dem Vereinigten Königreich vom 6. So I would highly recommend this for any Soundgarden fan on a budget who wants to grab a quality bit of vinyl.
No surface noise either when playing which I have found on some other purchases, even when new. The important thing was the sound quality of the vinyl itself.and it doesn't disappoint! On first listen it's a big and bold sound, deep bass as well as picking out little nuances that I've never heard on previous listens on CD. This version has very stripped down packaging - single LP in a white paper sleeve and outer sleeve with basic track information (the original CD I own has expanded packaging with lyrics etc.) but I wasn't fussed about that.
So this was my next best option - the single LP original release, doesn't specify whether it's remastered or not (although buying through Amazon it came with the Autorip MP3, which is the remastered version) all for just under £13. I was originally drawn to the recent 2-LP re-release on vinyl but the price just seemed a bit steep (£30+), although I'm sure it's a lovely package. I have been slowly picking up 'special' albums on vinyl over the last few years. I have had this on CD for years, since 1991, with the bonus SOMMS disc. If you're looking at this, you probably know how good the music is and this album will always have a special place in my heart. Won't harp on about the actual album and music other than to say, this was my Soundgarden discovery album and I have been a fan of everything before and since. Für mich klingt es eher nach modernisiertem 70er Hard Rock und Heavy Metal mit ein paar Grunge Elementen, insbesondere muss ich dabei and Led Zeppelin und Black Sabbath denken. Denn für mich klingt das Album eigentlich gar nicht wirklich nach Grunge. Nunja nun möchte ich mein Statement, dass ich einem Grunge Album 5 Sterne gebe, relativieren. Insbesondere Chris Cornells Leistung möchte ich hervorheben, er war ein unglaublich guter und charismatischer Sänger was er hier insbesondere mit Slaves & Bulldozer und Jesus Christ Pose zur Schau stellt. Daraufhin hab mich mir dann doch dieses Album zugelegt und es gefällt mir wirklich gut. Neulich habe ich dann durch Zufall doch in nem Chris Cornell tribute video das Lied Jesus Christ Pose gehört und zu meiner großen Überraschung fand ich es großartig. Im Großen und Ganzen kann ich mit Grunge auch nichts anfangen und das einzige Lied, dass ich von der Band kannte war das extrem populäre Black Hole Sun, mit welchem ich immer noch absolut nichts anfangen kann und was mich bisher auch davon abgehalten hat der Band ne Chance zu geben.
Wenn man meinem arroganten 13 jährigen ich gesagt hätte, dass ich ein Grunge Album mal mit 5 Sternen bewerte hätte es nur gelacht und sich träum weiter gedacht.
